problems with save/export folder
Re: problems with save/export folder
I think you can take a look at programs like photoshop or after effects.
Using export: tvpaint has to suggest the last exported folder/name.
using "save as" : tvpaint has to suggest the last saved file folder/name.

Re: problems with save/export folder
I don't see this problem either (but I am not on OS X). Even if I open an old project, it uses the last used directory and filename.Elodie wrote:I understand, but that's really weird, because I don't have this behavior![]()
(My TVPaint / my Mac goes to the last folder I've used or saved).

But I am on OSX... Oh snap, that gives me headaches
But ok, looks like we should take a look to the save / export file requester

Re: problems with save/export folder
For additional reference to past problems with the file requester (some of which continue within the current release of TVPaint Pro 10), please read THIS THREAD, the first entry having been posted in September 2010, almost three years ago.
As discussed, the bug in GEORGE's tv_ReqFile command seems to have been fixed when using the TVPaint's own file requester, but the SAME bug remains when using the Windows System file requester. It remains to this day (at least in my windows version of TVPaint Pro 10.0.9). I have high hopes that this and other, related(?), oddities with the file requester will be fixed once and for all in 10.5.

Re: problems with save/export folder
The export problem is still not fixed in tvpaint 10.5.1.
Can anybody tell me when this problem will be solved?...

Re: problems with save/export folder
Because we are still waiting for having this answer :
When you open an existing project, when you save it, when you export... what does it reminds ? The original file ? the last path used ? ...Elodie wrote:On your side, please explain us exactly which kind of behavior you want with TVPaint
Re: problems with save/export folder
Ok I will try to be as exact as possible:
When Export:
(when you hit the "browse" button)
-tvpaint should suggest the folder where you last exported your file. (now the finder window shows the root project folder)
-tvpaint should suggest the last the last exported filename. (now it looks sort of random to me. Sometimes it suggests the right name, but most of the time it suggests not the last exported name)
When open a tvpaint file:
-Show the folder where you last opened a project (I think this is already working right now)
When saving a tvpaint file using the "save as" function:
-tvpaint should open/show the folder where you last saved a tvpaint file. (now it shows a different folder and I have to take several steps to go to the folder where I last saved my project.)
Maybe other mac users can help me out. Am I right with these suggestions?

Thank you Joost !

Yes, that would be greatJoost wrote: Maybe other mac users can help me out. Am I right with these suggestions?

Re: problems with save/export folder
Completely agree.
Additionally I suggest to take more care to universal behaviours. I really really hate it that I can't abort/close export with cmd-full stop. Also it would be great to focus and highlight the last item in text in the file name box (the file name without extension) by just pressing tab as the first target.

Any news on this subject?
Here is another example:
I already exported 7 image sequences from the same project (this project has a project name). Every time I export a new sequence, tvtaint suggest to call it untitled.jpg. Why doesn't it suggest to save it with the same name of the last exported sequence?
Does any one know how to solve this problem? Is it a mac problem, or a tvpaint problem? Or do I do something wrong?

Re: problems with save/export folder
And then all of a sudden, after exporting ten image sequences, tvpaint suggests the right name.
Can anyone help me figure out why this happened. I can't remember doing anything different.
It would be really handy if tvpaint always suggests the name of the last exported sequence. I can't figure out why it behaves like this.
Sometimes it suggests "untitled", sometimes the name of a different old sequence, and also sometimes it suggests a ".tvp" file while exporting an image sequence.
I would like to figure out if I do something wrong or if it is a tvpaint bug...

Re: problems with save/export folder
I'm on Mac OS X . The behavior I get is the same as you describe, that is when exporting an image sequence the suggested name is Untitled.jpg , which has to be manually changed to the appropriate name , such as Seq_01_SC_05_001.jpg . However, if I make changes to the animation in the TVPaint project and I need to re-export the image sequence , the second time I export the image sequence the name will be set as Seq_01_SC_05_001.jpg . (and all subsequent images in the sequence are named Seq_01_SC_05_002.jpg , Seq_01_SC_05_003.jpg , Seq_01_SC_05_004.jpg, Seq_01_SC_05_005.jpg, etc.Joost wrote:And then all of a sudden, after exporting ten image sequences, tvpaint suggests the right name.

This is what usually happens for me. I only get "Untitled.jpg" as the suggested name the FIRST time I export an image sequence , but once I have named an image sequence to something such as Seq_01_SC_06_001.jpg , then the next time I go to export an image sequence (from a clip within the same project) it will suggest the name of the last exported sequence. BUT if I start a new project then it goes back to "Untitled.jpg" for the first time I export an image sequence .It would be really handy if tvpaint always suggests the name of the last exported sequence.
This hasn't been a huge problem for me . I just thought this was normal behavior.
I have never had that behavior (suggests a ".tvp" file while exporting image sequence) .Sometimes it suggests "untitled", sometimes the name of a different old sequence, and also sometimes it suggests a ".tvp" file while exporting an image sequence
.
