Export spritesheet?

Post by Lukas »

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there's a quick way to easily export a spritesheet directly from TVPaint?

Thanks! Lukas

That has been asked a couple of time in the last decade, but sadly, there is no way to export sprite sheets :s

Well, there is no internal export option for this, but It could be done with scripts though.

Allright, too bad, merci!

I'll probably keep exporting .png sequences and purchase TexturePacker. It worked quite well with the demo.

an other way to proceed would be to use the TVPaint 11 "Marks" guides and doing it manually with an animated brush.

Interesting.

We will keep your request in mind for the future.
It's not too complex to implement.

Ok, cool. :)

Another question regarding the TexturePacker solution:

I've got a TVP10 file with many walkcycles etc. each in their own Clip.

Is there a way to export all clips as .png sequences in their respective ownfolders? This would also be useful, especially when updating characters (like if you'd need to re-export every single frame because you've added some change to the design). (Maybe already possible by script or in TVP11?)

Like if this file - Character/Character_v1.tvp - had 3 clips, each with 3 frames, the clips would be named "Walk", "Run" and "Idle", it would somehow know to save them like so:

Character/Walk/Walk_00001.png
Character/Walk/Walk_00002.png
Character/Walk/Walk_00003.png
Character/Run/Run_00001.png
Character/Run/Run_00002.png
Character/Run/Run_00003.png
Character/Idle/Idle_00001.png
Character/Idle/Idle_00002.png
Character/Idle/Idle_00003.png

If it's not a TVP option yet, but doable with a George script, I could give it a shot myself. Is it possible?

I think you need a script.

Hi Lukas, welcome back !

In version 11, there is a feature for this in the "Handy Custom Panel", Miscellaneous, which exports every images, from every layers, from every clips and organise those with folders.

Edit : 11111th post !

Even though my George was a bit rusty, it was quite easy to script the rendering of clips. Merci!
