Embedded Custom Panel Issue

Post by Animark »

Hello,

since TVPaint 10.5 we have the option to embed a custom panel into a project. That's nice. But what will happen with it, when you open that project on an older TVPaint Version (10, or 9.5), work on it and save it? Could it be, that the embedded custom panel is deleted forever? Today I opened a file where i worked yesterday on an older TVPaint version and I was a little bit shocked, that my 2 embedded panels where gone - even on the computer, where I created them.

Fortunately, I had a backup copy, so I was able to restore the panels. But if it is like I said, there should be a warning about that. What do you think?

Hmh? I am a little bit confused now, because there is another theory about loosing embedded custom panels: When you crop a project with an embedded custom panel, the panel is no more connected to the croped project, but exists as a normal custom panel in TVPaint. Maybe I lost my panels that way. Will keep an eye on it ...

The problem due to older version looks logical. If you use a feature that does not exist in older versions, datas may be lost.

Concerning the crop project : on my version, the embedded custom panel doe not disappear : it is just hidden and if I click on it in the custom panels menus : it is still available as an embedded custom panel.

Edit : eeer, actually, we are both right, because I have a copy of the embedded custom panel, and a copy of this same panel, but as a normal one : so I had it twice O_o
