Creating a soft brush

Another in the pantheon of really basic questions from me. I want to create a white brush with a soft edge. Easy enough to simply use an existing brush, resize it and change it to white, but I want it to have a nice soft, airbrush like edge. In Photoshop, I can just grab the slider for softness and adjust any brushes degree of hard or soft edge. Simple. Here, I don't see any such option, so how do I do this simple thing? Someone might have a soft brush they can give me. which would be great, but I also would like to understand how I do this myself. (No one can call me lazy!)

David, you can adjust the softness of the airbrush tool using the brush profile in the toolpanel.

Great. Thank you Peter. It seems the default airbrush in my case was set up very differently than this, so I was confused. This is very helpful and I figured out that Step means how quickly it falls off, which is important.

TIP: By creating curves(instead of staying with a straight line) you can adjust the behavior of your pen with nuances that the Wacom software doesn't offer. Often the difference of one notch in Wacom's sensitivity graph will give you choices of two extremes so often I fuss between Wacom's and TVP's graph to get just what I need.
